Druk Path Cmap 4

Druk Path Trek

This six day trek is the most popular trek in the country as it passes through a gorgeous natural landscape of blue pine forests, high ridges and pristine lakes while at the same time offering the opportunity to visit some ancient lhakhangs, dzongs and villages.

The Druk Path is also a fairly easy hike to undertake as the distances between rest camps is fairly short.  The trail takes you through forests of fir, blue pine and dwarf rhododendrons at altitudes ranging between 2400-4200m.  On the third day, hikers will arrive at Jigmelang Tsho Lake, whose crystal clear waters are home to gigantic trout.

This trek also offers hikers stunning views of Mt. Gangkar Puensum, the highest unscaled peak in the world.  The best times to embark on the Druk Path Trek are between March-June and September-November.

Day 2| Paro sightseeing

Taktsang or the tiger’s nest temple is the most revered temple to the Buddhist. This magical temple clings to a vertical granite cliff 800m above the valley. Legend has it that in the 8th century, Guru Rimpochey, a tantric master flew here on the back of a tigress and meditated in a cave around which the temple is built. A hike to this temple will take up most of our morning. In the afternoon, we will host a special Buddhist prayer ceremony at the beautiful 1200 year old Kyichu Lhakhang Temple, to bring us good luck for the rest of the journey.
